Using Blogs For Marketing

Using blogs for marketing a web site is nothing new, but it continues to be one of the most cost-effective ways of doing it. It’s also very easy to do, as well as being extremely effective in getting a web site to rank well in a relatively short span of time.

The cost can be nothing other than time and a bit of ingenuity. You can use free blog platforms such as Blogger and Wordpress. Other Web 2.0 platforms such as Squidoo and Hub Pages can be very useful too, but it’s wise to find out beforehand whether or not they use dofollow links.

Some of the free social media sites use nofollow links. This will mean that any link you make back to your web site will not be followed by some of the search engines, notably Google. This is not what you want to happen, so be careful.

Website blog marketing

There are many strategies one can employ when using blogs for marketing a web site. One is simply to set up an independent blog, a simple Blogger blog for example, and make relevant daily posts with a single link back to your main web site. You could ramp this up over time and have several Blogger blogs all being posted to once a day, and all having a link back to your site.

The idea can get as complicated as you would like it to be. Using blogs for marketing, you could create little networks where a number of blogs, perhaps six or seven, all link together in a wheel fashion, and all link to a single blog. That blog could then take the power of all those links and shoot a link back to the main web site.

You don’t have to stop there either. Repeat that strategy over several times and the sheer power of social media optimisation will do wonders for any site.

Before letting your imagination run riot, it may be best to concentrate on using blogs for marketing your web site in a more simple manner. Building up the reputation of just one or two independent blogs so that people start to follow them, and even comment on them, will create your own little network working away to help your main site.

This isn’t a “get rich overnight” scheme, but it isn’t a long-term one either. In just a matter of a few weeks you could, with some persistence, see excellent results. In a year or so there’s no telling where you could be, just using blogs for marketing.
