Web Accessibility
Web site accessibility is a key issue for many organisations. And whilst it can add to costs these are far outweighed by the benefits of opening your site to millions of disabled persons worldwide.
The Blue Cube has been producing web accessible sites for many years.
The adoption of a consistent set of international technical standards the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) and the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) has driven more rapid progress on web accessibility, and made the design and development of more accessible web sites more efficient.
It is essential that several different components of web development and interaction work together in order for the web to be accessible to people with disabilities. These components include: content, text, images, sounds, code or mark-up – that defines structure, presentation, etc. Web browsers, media players, and assistive technology such as – screen readers, alternative keyboards, switches, scanning software, etc.
The Blue Cube continue to stay engaged in the debate about what represents best practice in this area and to advise clients accordingly.
