Link Popularity
If you have ever read about or tried to understand the principles of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) you will have come across the phrase ‘back link’. If you are new to this subject then you may well be asking ‘what is a back link’? Backlinking is one of the key factors in getting a site to rank highly and keep it there.
So what are back links and how do they benefit my website?
These are links to link to your website from other websites. The are also known as in-bound links. The more back links you have gives the search engines a good idea of how important your website is – you can think of them as ‘votes’ for your website. The more votes you have the higher your website will score. The search engines are simply giving more prominence to websites with quality back links than those that do not.
That said, not all links are good links! It is important to source links from similar themed websites as these will be considered more important than unrelated websites or links. Also, it is vital that you do not receive back links from link farms or bad link neighbourhoods as this will be penalised by the search engines.
The Blue Cube can set up a link development programme for your website. We aim to generate 10-15 quality back links per month as part of ongoing website search engine optimisation.
