Adopting An Email Marketing Strategy

Adopting an email marketing strategy is a sound idea if you intend to grow an email list to market to. There are several strategies that have become a kind of email marketing best practice that is observed by most online marketers. This has mainly come about through a kind of trial and error over the years, arriving at a point that works well for most people.

Email marketers need to capture an email address from as many of their online customers or visitors as possible. When a visitor can be persuaded to subscribe to your website, or to your newsletter, he or she is in effect saying that it’s OK for you to send the occasional email to them. And if you occasionally recommend an ebook or a piece of software, that’s OK too. Once you have built a relationship with your subscribers they will trust you and accept the occasional gentle sales pitch.

Spam is not an acceptable email marketing strategy. This is the opposite of permission marketing and actually an illegal practice. Spam involves sending lots of emails – millions in some cases – to people who have not agreed to accept them. The messages are unsolicited and unwelcome. Most of us, if we have been online for any length of time, had experienced spam. It’s hard to get rid of and it tends to get worse too over time.

A successful email marketing strategy respects everyone’s privacy. It allows people to optin to a list of their own free will. Admittedly they may be given an incentive to part with their email address, but they are not forced to. And even more important, they can opt out or unsubscribe from receiving messages at any time they choose. It has now become a best practice in any good email marketing strategy to ask subscribers to double optin.

The double optin helps to protect email marketers from accusations of spamming. It works by persuading the visitor to optin, or subscribe, to your list, and then they are immediately sent an email that requires them to click a link to confirm that they actually do want to receive whatever they have been promised. That is double optin.

A successful email marketing strategy is one where conversion and customer retention is tweaked to a maximum. It becomes a well oiled machine that functions with or without the operator, thanks to a clever piece of software called an autoresponder. This is a robotic device that sends out email messages at preset intervals, or when triggered by a specific response. It is invaluable to every email markets engaged in online marketing.

Using Email For Marketing

Email marketing

Using email for marketing is a common approach employed by many in Internet marketing. It is one of the oldest forms of marketing on the Internet, and it is still one of the most effective too. However, there are some legal requirements you need to be aware of and incorporate in an email marketing campaign, or you may find yourself accused of spam. This is unsolicited email where the person receiving it hasn’t agreed to accept the email. Besides being illegal, spam is not a good idea.

Building email lists

For this reason you should build a list, or several lists, if targeted email addresses who have all agreed to opt in to your list. This is the best anti spam measure you can adopt, and it’s easy to do too. In a nutshell, you could set up a squeeze page, a single page that offers something free, an ebook with good information on a certain subject, perhaps, and in exchange for the ebook people will have to give you their email address.

Opt-in and Autoresponders

That would be enough, but it’s safer to use a double opt in system. When the person submits their email address to get your free information they will receive an email immediately through an autoresponder asking them to confirm that they really want to be included on your list. When they confirm by clicking on the link, that is a double opt in. There can now be no doubt that they actually do want to receive your direct marketing emails you send, and you can not be charged with spam. This is also known as permission marketing.

Creating profit from your email marketing

Using email for marketing means you need to grow email lists to a point where you have enough subscribers to make the venture profitable. If the people on your list is highly targeted, meaning they really want to receive all the information you offer, a small list can be very profitable. It is normal though to need a few thousand on your list before it becomes profitable.

The best email newsletters are those that have formed strong relationships with the subscribers. You need to become their friend, someone who willingly gives them information they want freely; someone who helps and assists them, solving their many problems in a personalised manner wherever possible. Using email for marketing is an art when you do it right. Your open rates will be high because your reputation will soar and your subscribers will want to read your newsletters. This is promotional email at its best.

Understanding Email Opt-In

Understanding email opt in is actually a lot easier than it may seem if you are encountering the concept for the first time. It is also known as permission marketing as its basic nature is to encourage visitors to a web site to subscribe to a newsletter by filling in an online form with their email address and name, and then submitting the information. Using Email Marketing Targeted Properly

There’s really little point in having an email campaign marketing strategy if you have nothing to sell. Read more…

The Importance Of Double Opt In Email

Let’s start off by defining what double opt in email actually is. It is a way of ensuring that the person who opts to join an email marketing list really does want to join it. It works like this. Someone signs up to an email list to receive regular email messages. They are then sent an email to the same email address they used for signing up. That email has a link in it, which they are asked to click on if they really do want to sign up for the list. When they click on that link they have not only opted to receive email messages from that list, but they have done so twice – double opt in email, in other words. Read more…
