All about Promo Tweets – Promoted Trends and Promoted accounts
Twitter is ranked as one of the world’s most popular websites. More and more businesses are utilising Twitter to promote and advertise. A new service launched is Promo Tweets. It is non-traditional, it’s easy to use and it makes sense for businesses using Twitter.
So what is Promo Tweets? Well it is broken down into three areas:
Promoted Tweet
A promoted tweet is a successful venture for Twitter and business. A promoted tweet is tweets promoted by partner advertisers and these will be called out at the top of search result pages. If advertisers are paying for tweets to be promoted then these will be clearly labelled ‘promoted’ and will be organically sent to followers timelines. The promoted tweets will retain all the functionality of regular tweets. Only one promoted tweet will be displayed on the search results page.
Promoted Trends
A promoted trend is a simple but genius idea. Whatever the top trending topics are on the Twitter homepage and on user’s profile pages, a promoted trend tweet will show up below the list. Clearly labelled promoted which is a clear sign of drawing attention to it. This is where it is a little clever. When you click on it, instead of being re-directed to an ad or web page for the trend as most people would expect, it redirects to a search for the topic.
Promoted Accounts
Promoted accounts are the third part of Promo Tweets. To explain it simply it means advertisers will be able to maximize their exposure of their accounts by having tem suggested to users as part of the ‘Who to Follow’ feature giving added value to businesses who use Twitter. Promoted Accounts does exactly what it says. Companies can pay to have any of their accounts presented to users to follow. The suggestions will be based on the interests of the user and be of relevance to them.
